Project Description

Classic Builders was appointed to deliver Broadland Gardens, a flagship residential scheme of ten family homes for Plymouth City Council’s Plan for Homes programme. Working alongside the project professional team, we constructed a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses carefully arranged around a shared landscaped green. This layout was designed to foster a sense of community, provide safe play and amenity space, and bring new life to a previously underused part of the city. Our team oversaw every aspect of delivery, including groundworks, drainage, utilities, traditional masonry construction, and high-performance thermal fabric. We also delivered all external works, from new access roads and parking to boundary treatments and planting.

Managing a constrained urban site required close coordination with the design team and client. We phased works carefully to minimise disruption to surrounding properties and implemented robust quality controls to keep the programme and budget on track. Value engineering workshops proved critical in aligning architectural intent with practical build solutions, ensuring detailing was crisp and durable.

Sustainability and adaptability were core to the scheme. Each home benefits from energy-efficient air source heating and insulation strategies, helping residents reduce running costs and supporting Plymouth’s wider environmental ambitions. The homes are designed to be robust yet flexible, meeting the needs of families now and in the future. Each property benefits from roof mounted photovoltaic panels providing low-cost suitable energy.
