Project Description

This project involved the comprehensive conversion of a two-storey commercial property into a modern retail outlet for the luxury British chocolatier, Hotel Chocolat, in Truro city centre. The transformation required extensive structural modifications alongside dedicated administrative and storage space configuration tailored to corporate brand standards.

The project commenced with an extensive internal strip-out to clear the existing layouts and prepare the building fabric. The Classic Builders team then installed new structural elements, robust floor systems, partitions, and high-specification ceilings. A completely new mechanical and electrical package was integrated throughout the building to ensure modern operational efficiency.

Preserving architectural character, the team carefully refurbished the existing timber glazing while upgrading the property’s security through an advanced commercial protection system. Following the successful testing and commissioning of all building services, a full decoration package was carried out using Hotel Chocolat’s signature luxury palette. The project concluded with the installation of bespoke external corporate signage and compliant, accessible entry facilities.

Operating in a live, high-footfall city centre demanded rigorous project management to ensure public safety and minimal disruption to neighbouring retailers. The lack of on-site storage required a strict just-in-time delivery strategy, with waste removal and material loading carefully scheduled during off-peak hours. Navigating these city-centre constraints successfully allowed the project to hand over on schedule, matching the exacting design standards required for a flagship Hotel Chocolat launch.
